January 20, 2010-Atlanta, Nine, of the nation’s top conservative organizations are coming together in a sign of the growing unity within the conservative movement to hold the first ever State of The Union, The Voice of The People. This event is a live webcast from the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. scheduled for the night of February 2, 2010. This event takes place a week after the President’s State of The Union address to the nation on January 27, 2010 as a response to both the President and the Congress.
The organizers of the event, nationally recognized talk show host Herman Cain and long time conservative strategist Allen Hardage, say that the event is designed to give the American people a chance to let their view of where the country is headed to be known to their leaders.
“The people of this country are completely frustrated by the fact that their leaders are not listening to them,” said Hardage. “They have been ignored by congress and demeaned by certain members of the media, but on February 2 they will have their voices heard loud and clear.”
Herman Cain, who has been a regular fill in host for Neal Boortz and more recently for Sean Hannity says that the groups involved in the event have a set of common values that the American people believe in and that make America great.
“These leaders and their respective memberships are a collection of patriots that over the last year have worked tirelessly to provide a voice for all of us who truly love life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Individually and collectively, we are resistant to the runaway big government tax and spend, spend, spend policies of this administration and Congress.” Cain said.
The organizations participating; Family Research Council, THE New Voice, the Institute for Liberty, Media Research Center, Let Freedom Ring, Americans for Prosperity, Concerned Women for America, TEA Party Patriots and Freedomworks represent a combined membership estimated to be over fifteen million Americans ranging from Tea Party attendees to people who have been in the conservative movement for over twenty years.
“On February 2, 2010, we would like to speak on behalf of the American people to the President and the Congress. They have ignored us as they have sought to confiscate our hard earned money and our liberties. On This night we will give them the State of The Union from the view of We the People,” said Cain.
The State of the Union, The Voice of the People will air on the new conservative video site www.tvtownhall.com which is launching with this event. Hardage, who is the founder of the site plans to have live webcast of several national events in the next few months as well as launching a slate of conservative news and commentary shows in mid to late February.
